What the Markings Mean

American Public Works Association Utility Location & Coordination Council Uniform Color Code:

Red Red: Electric Power Lines, Cables, Conduit and Lighting Cables
Yellow Yellow: Gas, Oil, Steam, Petroleum or Gaseous Materials
Orange Orange: Communication, Alarm or Signal Lines, Cables or Conduit
Blue Blue: Water, Irrigation and Slurry Lines
Green Green: Sewers and Drain Lines
Pink Pink: Temporary Survey Markings
White White: Proposed Excavation
Purple Purple: Reclaimed Water
